BWH launched a new chapter in its aim to reduce racial disparities in health care as a panel of clinicians addressed more than 150 Brockton community members at a popular church on Saturday. Selwyn Rogers, MD, MPH, chief of BWH's Division of Trauma, Burns and Surgical Critical Care and director of the Center for Surgery and Public Health led the team of experts in delivering “The Quality of Minority Health Care: Bridging the Gap,” the first in a series of forums to address this important public health issue.
BWH's newly launched Center for Surgery and Public Health joined forces with Messiah Baptist Church in Brockton to offer a dynamic presentation and constructive conversation.
“The turnout and reception were phenomenal,” Rogers said.
Rogers was joined by Paula A. Johnson, MD, MPH, executive director of the Connors Center for Women's Health and chief of the Division of Women's Health; LeRoi Hicks, MD, MPH, of BWH's General Medicine; and Melissa Joseph, RN, BWH's recently appointed Diversity Fellow for Nursing.
